Campaign for Ethical Meat

an initiative of the
Towards Utopia Movement

Meat comes from farms, not supermarkets.
Animals sacrifice their lives so we can eat.
The very least we can do
is give them good lives
and a stress-free, humane death.
We owe them that at least.

More and more people are turning away from meat, becoming vegetarian or vegan. In part this is due to the failure of the meat industry, a failure to care for our livestock the way our ancestors did, and a failure to ensure humane slaughter conditions. It is also a failure of our governments, both U.K. and E.U., to uphold humane slaughter legislation, allowing racist and xenophobic exemptions to our laws for Muslims and Jews. Halal and Kosher slaughter methods are cruel and barbaric. They should never be permitted in any civilised country. No genuine god wants to see animals being tortured to death, no genuine religion teaches such atrocities and no genuine human being carries out such atrocities. What is worse, halal meat has been forced onto an unsuspecting public, sneaked in because its cheaper to operate one production line rather than two parallel ones.

THIS HAS TO STOP !

Is it any wonder that the public no longer trust the meat industry? Add the appalling conditions animals suffer in intensive units, never seeing the sun or feeling the breeze on their faces for their entire lives. Is it any wonder people are turning away from meat in their droves?

But there are alternatives. It is up to us, each supplier, each butcher, each restaurant, to make a stand. Please download one of our free posters, whichever one most accurately describes your present meat policy, and display in proudly in your shop window and on your website. We really can make a difference for farm animals and we can do it right now!
